In his first visit to Wilmington, North Carolina, President Joe Biden highlighted the importance of clean water infrastructure. He spoke about the dangers of contaminated water, including the presence of PFAS and lead, and the negative health effects they can cause.

“As a consequence of PFAS, you’ve seen aggressive cancers emerge,” Biden said. “It’s gone so far, we are advising and warning you can’t eat the fish.”

To address these issues, President Biden announced funding that will be specifically directed toward clean water infrastructure. “My administration is investing an additional 9 billion dollars more than ever in the history of America to finally get rid of PFAS chemicals,” Biden said.

This emphasis on investment in clean water infrastructure shows the Biden administration’s commitment to improving the health and safety of American communities.
