Your Guide To Surviving Homecoming Weekend

It’s officially fall here in North Carolina which means the most wonderful weekend of the year is approaching for many of you. Homecoming week is around the corner and the gang here at NC Voices thought we should give you a few pointers to ensure you survive your weekend of fun.

Plan Accordingly

You already have homecoming weekend circled on your calendar. Do yourself a favor and take the following Monday off. Nothing is worse than partying all weekend and thinking you only need Sunday as a recovery day. You are older now and trust us it’s not true. Take the time off for a better work week.

Dress Comfortably

Check the weather forecast and dress appropriately for the weekend. You will probably get a bunch of steps in during your journey that weekend. Sunday morning foot pain is real peeps. Comfortability over fashion is key here.

Eat & Hydrate

Please eat, eat, and when in doubt eat something. I’m sure there will be plenty of food around. Your body needs nutrients from all of that walking, socializing and any other alumni activity. Hydrate with water as much as possible because most of your body is made up of water and your fuel tank needs food and water to function properly.

Drink Responsibility

Let’s be honest here we all know folks will indulge in adult beverages during homecoming weekend. Being that we are all responsible adults here, we will not suggest the perfect beverage for homecoming weekend. We will leave that up to you to decide. Please by all means do not drink and drive. There are so many other choices and alternate options these days. Don’t ruin your weekend or life over being a knucklehead.

Give Back

It’s great to come home but make sure to support your university during your visit. Get to campus early during the week and visit your old classroom and professors. See how you can help in the department. I’m sure you have plenty of great professional knowledge to share with current students and staff that will help them tremendously in their journey. Donating money is always a great way to support your university.

Have Fun

The most important rule of homecoming is to have fun. This weekend only comes once a year so enjoy it. Have laughs with friends, create new memories with friends and remember the great times you had in college. Reflect on you then and you now and be proud of your growth as an adult. This is not a competition to see who’s living the best life. Meet old friends, make new friends and you are never too old to network. That’s what college is all about.

Alright peeps, have fun and be safe on your return to campus. Remember to take this guide with you during your fun festive weekend and make wise decisions.

The Associated Press‑NORC Center for Public Affairs Research). Solo el 14 % declara que no es una fuente de estrés, lo que subraya la ansiedad generalizada que la mayoría de los estadounidenses continúa sintiendo por el costo de los productos de consumo diario.
