Puerto Ricans focus of racist tirade at Trump campaign rally

Puerto Rican stars Bad Bunny and Ricky Martin publicly supported Kamala Harris on the same day comedian Tony Hinchcliffe referred to Puerto Rico as a “floating island of garbage” during Donald Trump’s Madison Square Garden rally.

Puerto Rican artist Bad Bunny expressed his support for Vice President Kamala Harris on Sunday by sharing a video on social media that outlines her plans for Puerto Rico. This endorsement followed a series of offensive jokes made by Hinchcliffe during Donald Trump’s rally in New York, which has since sparked a wave of public outrage. Donald Trump is no stranger to controversy given his history of inflammatory remarks directed at members of the Latine community.

In January 2018, President Donald Trump ignited widespread outrage by referring to Haiti and El Salvador as “shithole countries” during a White House meeting. This comment was condemned by numerous lawmakers and advocates, who argued it reflected a racist and derogatory view of nations with complex histories and challenges. Trump’s remarks were seen as part of a broader pattern of inflammatory language regarding immigration and foreign nations. The incident rekindled debates about U.S. immigration policy and the treatment of immigrants from countries facing hardship.

Adding to the outrage, former President Donald Trump recently faced backlash for a racist comment he allegedly made regarding the funeral costs of murdered soldier Vanessa Guillén. During a December 2020 meeting, he reportedly reacted to the $60,000 expense by saying, “It doesn’t cost 60,000 bucks to bury a f—ing Mexican!” While the comment has drawn criticism from some Hispanic communities, it may be tempered by Guillén’s sister’s support for Trump amid the broader political divide among Latinos.

As we approach the upcoming elections, it’s crucial for Latino conservatives to reconsider their support for Donald Trump. His administration has consistently demonstrated anti-Latino and anti-immigrant rhetoric and policies that undermine the very communities that many of us hold dear. By voting for Trump, you are endorsing a vision that marginalizes our culture and values, reinforcing harmful stereotypes and discrimination. Instead, let’s unite for candidates who genuinely support our rights and aspirations, ensuring a future where all Latinos can thrive without fear or prejudice. Your vote is your voice—let it reflect the values of inclusivity and respect that we deserve.

My ACA premium is increasing 240%

My husband and I are small business owners, so we rely on the Affordable Care Act for health care coverage. We currently pay $400 per month for medical and dental care. But, because of Republicans’ refusal to fix the crisis they’ve created, our monthly medical health premium is expected to cost us 240% more in 2026. And my daughter, a Medicaid recipient, could lose coverage altogether.
