2025 marks a record-breaking year for job growth in NC, Governor Stein announces

North Carolina Democratic Governor Josh Stein has announced that he, along with the North Carolina Department of Commerce and the Economic Development Partnership, has brought over 33,000 new jobs to North Carolina this year.

In addition to new jobs, Gov. Stein announced a whopping $23.1 billion in investments to rural and urban areas across the state. This achievement has made it a record-breaking year for North Carolina’s job market.

According to CNBC, North Carolina has earned the achievement of being one of America’s top states for business in 2025.

“Across the state, businesses are creating great jobs and investing in North Carolina because we give them the best chance at success, this record-setting year for job creation is the product of hard work among many partners, including the Department of Commerce and EDPNC, but especially from Governor Stein’s commitment to putting North Carolina’s best foot forward,” said Commerce Secretary, Lee Lilley.

Investing in Western North Carolina

Gov. Stein is also highlighting the economy in rural communities as we continue to rebuild western North Carolina after the disastrous impact of Hurricane Helene.

Investing in small businesses is imperative for the state, with nearly 5,000 new jobs and $12.5 billion being invested in rural communities this year.

Gov. Stein and the NC Department of Health and Human Services announced a plan to support more than 3 million people, both in rural healthcare and the rural health workforce, through the Rural Health Transformation Program. The governor is dedicated to improving the rural economy through a progressive program that ensures investment across all areas of infrastructure.

“Small businesses are the backbone of our economy, especially in rural North Carolina. We’re going to keep rebuilding western North Carolina and investing in broadband and other infrastructure statewide to help people start businesses, get good jobs, and build strong futures, no matter where they live,” said Gov. Stein.

North Carolina continues to be a hub for various industries, such as aerospace, biotech, electric vehicles, and manufacturing. In fact, the state has recently collaborated with aviation startup, JetZero.

The company announced that it is building a 14,500-worker factory at the Piedmont Triad International Airport in Greensboro, making the endeavor the largest job project in the state’s recent history.

With an emphasis on making sustainable, everlasting growth in the economy in North Carolina, the future is bright for both industries and job seekers.

My husband and I are small business owners, so we rely on the Affordable Care Act for health care coverage. We currently pay $400 per month for medical and dental care. But, because of Republicans’ refusal to fix the crisis they’ve created, our monthly medical health premium is expected to cost us 240% more in 2026.
