Ever wanted to live at Disney? Now you can– at a new community being built in Chatham County.

Storyliving by Disney, the brand behind the new project, has announced its latest residential development, called Asteria. According to the Disney Parks blog, the name Asteria pays homage to the native North Carolina aster flower, which is also the namesake of the goddess Asteria.

Asteria will sit on 1,500 acres of land northeast of Pittsboro and is expected to have more than 4,000 residential units.

These residential units will include single and multifamily homes, with certain sections designated for adults 55 years and older.

For community amenities, residents will have access to a clubhouse, wellness center, and restaurants that will host Disney-themed dinners and other brand-related activities.

“We are excited to learn that Storyliving by Disney selected Pittsboro, North Carolina, for its second residential community in the United States. Chatham County looks forward to working with the Town of Pittsboro, Disney, Chatham Park, and DMB Development as the Asteria community comes to life in the coming years,” Chatham County Board of Commissioners Chairman Mike Dasher, told ABC11.

“This announcement is the latest major economic development project to choose Chatham County. We are thrilled about the innovative and unique lifestyle that this community will offer our residents, as well as a variety of great jobs for our local and regional workforce.”

Asteria marks the second residential development, following the Storyliving by Disney’s first community, known as Cotino.

Currently, Cotino is underway in Rancho Mirage, California, where Walt Disney is said to have owned a home. The California-based community is slated to include a 55+ housing neighborhood, and single-family homes anticipated to start from the upper $1 millions – lower $2 millions.

More information, including an option to join the community’s email list, can be found by visiting storylivingbydisney.com/asteria.

Under state law, North Carolina’s Medicaid expansion program would end should federal funding for the program drop below 90%, cutting off access to the 640,000 North Carolinians who’ve gotten coverage under the expansion.
