Abortion Rights To Take Center Stage This Election Cycle

President Biden and Democrats across the country held a series of events this month to highlight the fight for abortion rights as the nation marked what would have been the 51st anniversary of Roe v. Wade on January 22.

Vice President Kamala Harris headlined an event in Wisconsin, while First Lady Jill Biden and Second Gentlemen Doug Emhoff appeared jointly in Virginia. North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper, Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer, and Phoenix Mayor Kate Gallego all hosted events in their states as well.

In addition to the events, President Biden’s campaign plans to focus an advertising campaign on how abortion restrictions have affected women and health care providers. It is the latest sign that abortion rights are going to take center stage in the presidential election.

“In 2024, a vote for Joe Biden and Kamala Harris is a vote to restore Roe, and a vote for Donald Trump is a vote to ban abortion across the country,” Biden campaign manager Julie Chavez Rodriguez said

“These are the stakes in 2024 and we’re going to continue to make sure that every single voter knows it.”
