NC Proud Boy Pleads Guilty to Seditious Conspiracy

Source: AP

Recently a North Carolina man pleaded guilty to seditious conspiracy for his role in the January 6 insurrection, according to the Associated Press

Jeremy Joseph Bertino, 43, plotted with other members of the far-right Proud Boys to violently stop the peaceful transfer of power after the 2020 presidential election. Bertino is the first Proud Boy to plead guilty to a seditious conspiracy charge.

Bertino has been cooperating with the Justice Department as they investigate the attack in Washington DC that took place January 6, 2021. Hopefully, Bertino’s cooperation puts pressure on other Proud Boys charged in the attack.

Bertino’s guilty plea came as the founder of the Oath Keepers, another extremist group much like the Proud Boys, is standing trial on seditious conspiracy along with four of his associates.
