“Stop the Billionaire Giveaway”: Fair Share America’s bus tour stops in North Carolina

The Fair Share America national bus tour made its latest stop in North Carolina, with local advocates and residents speaking out against the devastating impact of the federal budget bill passed in July.

The group held a town hall in Raleigh to highlight how Trump’s “Big Beautiful Bill” further rigs the system against hardworking people and cuts crucial health care and food assistance for millions of Americans.

“The budget reconciliation law didn’t just make life harder for millions of families, it made it clear that too many elected officials aren’t standing up for the everyday Americans they’re supposed to represent. We’re going town to town to say loud and clear: our tax dollars should go to the things that help all of us thrive – health care, food assistance, public schools, and clean energy — not to billionaire handouts,” stated Kristen Crowell, Executive Director of Fair Share America, in a press release.

The Raleigh event, hosted by Fair Share America in collaboration with local advocacy groups, including the NC Budget and Tax Center, Progress NC, and the NC Black Alliance, is part of a multi-city tour aimed at highlighting what’s at stake for families, communities, and state economies now that the GOP budget bill has passed.

The 45-foot bus, wrapped in a trillion-dollar bill graphic, is traveling across the country, with previous stops in Arizona, Colorado, Ohio, Virginia, and other states.

The bus tour was launched by Fair Share America, a coalition of groups focused on ensuring wealthy individuals and the most profitable corporations pay what they owe so that all of us can thrive. The organization is made up of hundreds of unions, educators, climate justice groups, and democracy organizations.

“We have traveled over 7,000 miles and held over 50 town halls in just the last month alone,” stated Crowell, in an interview on Capitol Tonight. “We are taking it to the districts, specifically where members of Congress have betrayed our communities, and to let the public know what was in this bill. How did trillions of our tax dollars end up in the hands of billionaires and the ultra-rich, all at the expense of our communities.”

The Associated Press‑NORC Center for Public Affairs Research). Solo el 14 % declara que no es una fuente de estrés, lo que subraya la ansiedad generalizada que la mayoría de los estadounidenses continúa sintiendo por el costo de los productos de consumo diario.
