Want to cheer on the Canes in the Stanley Cup Finals? Here’s how.

North Carolina is buzzing right now because, for the first time in 20 years, the Carolina Hurricanes are playing in the Stanley Cup Finals.

North Carolina’s favorite hockey team is looking to bring home their second championship, which is looking like a real possibility given the Canes’ recent hot streak. The Canes have been so dominant that they became the first team in NHL history to reach the Stanley Cup Final with only one loss (12-1) in the first three rounds of the playoffs.

If you don’t want to splurge to see the games in person (we don’t blame you– the “get in” price right now for Game 1 is roughly $1,000 per seat), there’s a ton of watch parties planned across the state. Here’s everything you need to know so that you can cheer on the Canes from anywhere in North Carolina.

The Schedule

All games are airing at 8 pm on ABC.

  • Game 1 at home, Tuesday, June 2
  • Game 2 at home, Thursday, June 4
  • Game 3 in Vegas, Saturday, June 6
  • Game 4 in Vegas, Tuesday, June 9
  • Game 5 at home, Thursday, June 11 (if necessary)
  • Game 6 in Vegas, Sunday, June 14 (if necessary)
  • Game 7 at home, Wednesday, June 17 (if necessary)

The “Official” Watch Parties

The “official” team-sponsored watch parties will be at Carolina Ale House in Cary and will feature Canes Crew appearances, giveaways, and, most importantly, over 50 TVs to watch the game.

If you can’t make it to the official party in Cary, Carolina Ale House’s other 12 locations, spread out from Wilmington to Winston-Salem, will also be hosting watch parties. Carolina Ale House was founded in Raleigh, so it’s fitting that the regional chain will be the watch party HQ for the state.

The City of Raleigh is also hosting watch parties in Moore Square. There will be a large outdoor screen and food and beverage vendors. Organizers recommend bringing a chair or blanket.

And during road games (June 6, June 9, and potentially June 14), the Canes are planning to open the Lenovo Center to fans. Follow the team’s social media accounts for more details.

The Local Spots

We went through Reddit threads and news articles and put our own heads together to assemble a list of local spots where you can watch the games. Some spots are known for their food; others just have a bunch of TVs. This list is by no means exhaustive, but regardless, we hope it helps you make a plan to get out in the community and cheer on the Canes!

Senate Republicans Aim to Reduce North Carolina’s Most Popular Voting Method

SB 1084 would cut the early voting period by an entire week, limiting North Carolinians to seven fewer days to express their constitutional right to vote. Under current law, early voting runs from the third Thursday before election day. The bill, if passed, would move the start of early voting to the second Thursday for all elections.
