President Biden And Harris Tout Healthcare And Expanding Access During North Carolina Stop

Last month, President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris promoted their healthcare agenda in Raleigh, arguing that Democrats are committed to preserving access to care amid Republican attacks.

Since former President Barack Obama signed the Affordable Care Act (ACA) into law more than 14 years ago, Republicans on the federal and state levels, have attempted to stall affordable and accessible health care.

As of March, 10 states, with Republican-led state legislatures, have yet to pass Medicaid Expansion under the ACA. Just this past December, North Carolina Republicans finally joined state Democrats in passing the crucial health care coverage.

Under President Biden, Republicans have opposed Biden’s initiatives to lower medical costs, and restricted abortion rights after the U.S. Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade, according to The Associated Press.

“Even during the deadly pandemic, Trump and his MAGA friends in Congress wanted to get rid of the ACA, kick millions of Americans off their health insurance. It’s sick,” stated President Biden during his visit to Raleigh.

The Biden-Harris administration is looking to restore full access to abortion, and push back against GOP regressive policies, pointing to the success of prescription price cap on insulin through the Inflation Reduction Act.

“I see a future with health care as a right, and we restore the freedom to choose and protect the freedoms, not take them away,” President Biden stated.
