DJs at the Polls: National Organization Planning to Make an Impact on this Election Season in North Carolina

Source: Triad City Beat

We are officially less than a month from Election Day, and a national organization is trying something new in North Carolina to drive more people to the polls.

The name of the organization is called DJs at the Polls and they are hiring DJs across the state to play in the morning and/or afternoon on November 5th.

In 2008, Anton Moore founded DJs at the Polls in Philadelphia. He started this nonpartisan organization on the belief that voting and democracy are something to be celebrated and that DJs playing at polling places can increase voter turnout.

There is actually evidence to prove that.

In Philadelphia in 2022, voter turnout increased by 3% at polling sites where DJs performed.

Moore told WCCB Charlotte, “We’re paying our DJs $500 for each shift. […] Some of them will be doing it in the morning from 7 to 11 and then the afternoon from 3 to 7. […] So DJs can make up to $1000 a day, and we’re loaning them a generator as well.”

So if you know of any DJs that would be interested in this opportunity, share this website with them.
