Damaged municipal water systems, compromised septic systems, and contaminated drinking water caused by flooded private wells have state public health officials concerned.
Election Day is set for Nov. 5, with polling places open from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Voters can locate their polling sites and view a sample ballot using the State Board of Elections’ voter search tool. This year, North Carolina voters must present an approved form of identification to cast their votes.
“People need to know that they’re safe in their house, at least for the time being, until we can get things back on track,” said state Rep. Lindsey Prather (D-Buncombe).
“If we lose NC, we lose the White House and our future,” Republican superintendent candidate Michele Morrow wrote. “Our children are being attacked. This is the American Revolution 2.0!”

Trump has proposed a 20% tariff on all imported goods and tariffs of 60% or higher on imports from China. A wide range of economists say American consumers would wind up bearing the burden of these tariffs.
