On July 29, a new 84-unit apartment complex opened up on the Eastside of Greensboro for low and moderate-income families.

The Lofts at Elmsley Crossing are located on Kallamdale Road near Randleman Road.

The complex features a mix of one-, two- and three-bedroom units, and garden-style apartments. Five percent of the units are handicap accessible and another five percent are designed for those with mobility impairments.

The project itself took three years in the making and nearly $20.4 million to build. Money from the City of Greensboro HOME funds, the Housing Finance Agency and conventional financing through Merchants Capital helped cover the cost.

Greensboro City Councilwoman of District 1 Sharon Hightower told ABC 45 News that a new apartment like this “offers a lot of hope to those who are looking from the outside thinking I will never be able to live in something nice.”

Now, there is something nice to look forward to on the Eastside.
