Officially called the “Methane Emission Fee,” the fee aims to encourage oil and gas companies to invest in reducing methane emissions.
Election Day is set for Nov. 5, with polling places open from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Voters can locate their polling sites and view a sample ballot using the State Board of Elections’ voter search tool. This year, North Carolina voters must present an approved form of identification to cast their votes.
“People need to know that they’re safe in their house, at least for the time being, until we can get things back on track,” said state Rep. Lindsey Prather (D-Buncombe).

The amendment intentionally creates division across various communities in our state, casts doubt on the security and integrity of our elections, and provokes anti-immigration hate and racism, which are already issues in our country.
“We’re going to do everything in our power here at the Department of Justice to stop the companies and telemarketers from violating our laws and stealing people’s hard-earned money,” AG Josh Stein said.
Earlier this month, Gov. Roy Cooper signed an executive order to expedite repairs, as the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has been called in to assess water systems, wastewater plants and dams across the state. Crews have been working 24 hours a day replacing broken pipes and patching up leaks.
