Lt. Gov. Mark Robinson’s 2024 gubernatorial campaign team has been able to prevent Robinson from showing up and stumbling through primary debates, but they weren’t able to prevent him from using a pro-Bidenomics company to try and attack the president and Democrats, the American Independent reported.
Mark Robinson has enjoyed a meteoric rise to fame since his defiant defense of gun rights at a Greensboro City Council meeting went viral in 2018. In two years, Robinson went from an armchair observer to Lieutenant Governor, and since then, Robinson’s star has only shone brighter among right-wing circles.
For someone who considers themselves a man of God, Lt. Gov. Mark Robinson sure has a strange way of showing acceptance and love for others.
A new Vanity Fair article looks at what we here in North Carolina have known for years – Robinson is a right-wing MAGA bigot and would be a disaster for our state if he becomes our next governor.
At the same time Mark Robinson was mocking children who had survived a school shooting, he was also going on conspiracy theorist podcasts to trash the Civil Rights Movement.
His posts on the Parkland school shooting mostly targeted a group of surviving students who had called for more gun control measures after a former student murdered 14 students and three staff members with an AR-15-style rifle.
His habit of saying homophobic, transphobic, misogynistic, antisemitic, anti-science and/or racist things has some in the NCGOP worried – but that hasn’t stopped others from lining up in support.
Lt. Gov. Mark Robinson is likely to announce soon that he will run for governor in 2024 and due to the importance of the race, the national media is finding out what we here have known for years now – Robinson is a far-right Christian nationalist bigot.
Robinson used his “State of the State” response as an opportunity to debut a new, less extreme persona – but don’t buy it. He’s still as full of hate as ever.
“Do people want somebody prosecuting the culture wars when there’s a hurricane?” Duke professor Mac McCorkle asked. “We haven’t had a shouter as governor, well, ever.”
